Wärtsilä Lifecycle solution agreements ensure the optimal performance of two Bangladeshi power plants

The technology group Wärtsilä has signed five-year Lifecycle solution agreements for two power plants in Bangladesh. With the agreements in place, the customers can be assured that their plants can be operated at optimal efficiency, and that maintenance will be effectively planned and executed to maximise operational uptime.

A Wärtsilä Maintenance management and operational advisory services agreement with PowerPac Mutiara Jamalpur Power Plant Ltd, an independent power producer (IPP) covers PowerPac Jamalpur plant in Jamalpur, Bangladesh. The agreement is booked with Wärtsilä in Q1 2019. This is the first long term service agreement signed for a baseload power plant owned by a private company in Bangladesh. The agreement answers to the customer’s need of operational reliability and optimal power plant performance. This plant was commissioned in November 2016 with capacity of 100 MW by twelve Wärtsilä 32 engines.

An Operation and maintenance and spare parts supply agreement has been signed with LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Ltd, a major cement producer. The company owns a 30 MW power plant that provides power to its cement production facility in Chattak, Sunamgonj. The agreement covering full operation and maintenance plus parts supply, was booked with Wärtsilä in Q1 2019. The plant was commissioned in December 2004 and has four Wärtsilä 34SG and two Wärtsilä 200 engines.

Wärtsilä currently has in excess of 4850 MW of installed or on order power generating capacity in Bangladesh. Of these 1100 are operated and maintained under contract by Wärtsilä.
