Clyde Bergemann Power Group (CBPG) Granted U.S. Patent for Remote Wet-to-Dry Bottom Ash Handling Technology

Wesel, April 2017

CBPG continues to advance its position as the global technology leader in ash handling solutions with an awarded U.S. Patent for the remote submerged scraper conveyor for the dewatering of bottom ash slurry.

The new patent, U.S. Patent #9,593,850, is for a Remote Submerged Scraper Conveyor (RSSC) to dewater bottom ash slurry discharge at power plants per the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Effluent Limitation Guidelines (ELG) & Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) regulations. The RSSC consists of a modified Submerged Scraper Conveyor remotely located from the boiler to continuously receive and dewater bottom ash slurry, while minimizing the fines discharged into the recirculated water. The bottom ash is separated from the slurry through underflow baffles and a series of overflow troughs and weirs within the conveyor. Clyde Bergemann is currently utilizing this technology to dewater bottom ash and pyrites at a large utility in the southern United States.

“We are thrilled to be awarded this new patent,” said Dominick Garton, President of the Clyde Bergemann Power Group Americas, “This patent demonstrates to our customers, prospects and the wider industry that we are innovators and leaders in technological solutions for ELG/CCR compliance.”
