POWER Engineers Selected as Owner’s Engineer for the Masinloc Expansion Project in the Philippines

HAILEY, Idaho (August, 2016) — POWER Engineers Incorporated (POWER) has been selected by Masinloc Power Partners Company Ltd. (MPPC) to provide Owner’s Engineering Services for a 300 MW super-critical, coal-fired expansion project at the existing Masinloc Generating Station. The current plant consists of two identical 315 MW coal-fired units located at Barangay Bani, Masinloc, Philippines, in the province of Zambales on the island of Luzon. The new unit will utilize seawater scrubbing to control sulfur emissions and incorporates several of the site’s existing systems in its design to minimize installation costs. POWER Engineers will serve as MPPC’s Owner’s Engineer through engineering design, construction, startup and commissioning of the expansion project.

“POWER completed the Masinloc Expansion Project Feasibility Study in 2011, so we are excited to continue our work with AES on this critical project,” said John Lagomarsino, a Project Director in POWER Engineers’ Generation Division. The Masinloc project demonstrates POWER Engineers’ deep technical experience and ability to support major international fossil fired power plants.
MPPC is a joint venture between AES Corporation, Thailand’s Electric Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO), and International Finance Corporation (IFC) with AES as the majority owner. Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, AES is one of the world’s leading power companies generating and distributing electric power in 17 countries and employing 21,000 people worldwide. A Fortune 200 company, AES has nearly 36,000 MW of installed capacity around the world with another 5,620 MW under construction.
