Honeywell to Support Entergy New Orleans’ Commercial Demand Response Goals

  • Entergy to deploy best-in-class technologies and program management services
  • Large commercial and industrial electricity consumers to receive financial incentives simply by participating in the fully automated demand response program

HOUSTON, August 4, 2020 — Honeywell today announced that it will manage Entergy New Orleans’ Large Commercial & Industrial (Large C&I) Demand Response (DR) program.

DR provides an opportunity for customers to play a significant role in the operation of the electric grid by reducing or shifting electrical loads during peak periods. Under the three-year contract, Honeywell will manage all aspects of Entergy New Orleans’ large commercial DR program including the design, marketing, enrollment and deployment.

“Part of a clean energy future includes partnering with our large commercial customers to deliver innovative programs to help them manage electrical demand at peak times of the day,” said Derek Mills, manager of demand side management, Entergy New Orleans. “By offering a large commercial and industrial DR program, we are delivering a solution that helps manage load at key times on our network and that offers our C&I customers attractive financial incentives.”

With an impressive history of effective programs and a market-leading portfolio of smart energy technologies and services, Honeywell is uniquely positioned to deliver such programs for their extensive customer base. “We are proud to lead this project and to announce the addition of the Enbala Virtual Power Plant (VPP) engine to the Honeywell DemandSites™ suite of solutions,” said Jamie Coffel, global offering manager, Honeywell Smart Energy. “It represents a great collaboration between Honeywell’s industry-leading solutions, our technology partners, and Entergy New Orleans as we all work to provide a more sustainable future.”

“Adding our capabilities and functionality to Honeywell’s Smart Energy portfolio gives Honeywell customers like Entergy new opportunities to orchestrate a broad range of distributed energy resources for advanced DR and other grid balancing applications,” said Trent Bowers, Enbala chief commercial officer. “We are excited to be a part of this innovative new demand management project and our technology partnership with Honeywell.”
