Petro-Canada Lubricants SENTRON SP 30 launches, a first-of-its-kind stationary gas engine oil

The first SAE 30 stationary gas engine oil to receive MAN M 3271-5 and M 3271-2 approvals

HollyFrontier Lubricants & Specialties has launched Petro-Canada Lubricants SENTRONTM SP 30, an advanced-performance SAE 30 stationary gas engine oil and the first of its category approved to meet MAN Truck & Bus AG’s latest M 3271-5 and M 3271-2 specifications.

SENTRON SP 30 is specially formulated for high brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) engines operating under high loads and high and low temperature conditions. The premium performance oil is formulated with the latest additive technology in combination with Petro-Canada Lubricants-branded ultra-pure, high viscosity index base oil. Together these provide superior performance and fuel efficiency improvement of 0.8-0.9% compared to conventional gas engine oils including modern premium performance products1.

SENTRON SP 30 offers superior thermal and oxidation/nitration stability to that of SAE 40 grade oils, resulting in extended oil life, reduced acid formation and outstanding resistance against deposit and sludge formation. SENTRON SP 30 helps keep the engine clean and prevent wear of critical components such as piston rings and liners leading to increased engine durability and extended component life in varied operating conditions such as frequent start/stops. The premium performance stationary gas engine oil also offers low oil consumption, contributing to lower total cost of ownership.

“The launch of SENTRON SP 30 is a first-of-its-kind innovation in stationary gas engine oil technology, which is why it’s the first SAE 30 stationary gas engine oil to be approved for the MAN M 3271-5 and M 3271-2 specifications,” said Tony Weatherill, senior vice president, commercial, Americas, HollyFrontier Lubricants & Specialties. “I’m delighted that we’ve anticipated and met the latest OEM requirements and that our specialty base oil has enabled us to develop this advanced-performance product and secure this approval.”

“The demand for SAE 30 stationary gas engine oils is increasing for emergency power generation and for flexible peak power generation applications due to the fast engine start-up that these oils provide.” said Brad Palmer, manager, global segment marketing, HollyFrontier Lubricants & Specialties. “With SENTRON SP 30, we have met those demands. In addition, SENTRON SP 30 provides improved fuel efficiency compared to SAE 40 stationary gas engine oils.”

SENTRON SP 30 joins the established mid ash product range under the Petro-Canada Lubricants brand. To learn more about the SENTRON product line and to enquire about SENTRON SP 30, please visit: https://lubricants.petro-canada.com/en-ca/brand/sentron.
