Lukoil to expand renewables portfolio with newly added PV capacity

LUKOIL, one of the largest publicly traded, vertically integrated oil and gas companies in the world, has energized its second solar park in Russia’s southern Volgograd region. The 20 MW project was built at the territory of company’s oil refinery unused for its core operations.

First solar power plant with a capacity of 10 MW came online in 2018, thus total capacity of 2 facilities now reached 30 MW. Both plants will be operated by a separate division of LUKOIL, established to deploy company’s renewable businesses. The company partnered with Russian largest solar cell and module manufacturer Hevel Group that performed EPC works and supplied solar modules.

The solar farm will generate 24.5 mln kWh of electricity annually which can reduce CO2 emissions by 12 thousand tons each year.
