ELECTRIC POWER Conference Announces TVA as Host Utility

20th annual conference and exhibition convenes in Nashville from March 19 – 22, 2018

HOUSTON, TX, November 15, 2017 – The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) is serving as the host utility for 20th annual ELECTRIC POWER Conference & Exhibition, which convenes at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, Tenn., from March 19-22.

The ELECTRIC POWER Conference brings together professionals from across the power generation sector to learn the latest about technology, operations and maintenance, professional development, fuels, safety and more.

“Since its start in 1998, ELECTRIC POWER has earned a reputation as the leading conference for education and training within power generation and 2018 will continue that tradition in Nashville,” said Jamie Reesby, Show Director. “We are fortunate that our location is within TVA’s service territory, which allows us to directly benefit from their industry leadership in safe, clean, reliable, and low-cost electricity, environmental stewardship, and economic development.”

In addition to power plant tours to showcase TVA facilities, attendees will also be able to learn from TVA executives and power plant professionals via a comprehensive conference program designed by industry professionals for industry professionals.

“We’re pleased to welcome our power industry colleagues to Nashville and the Tennessee Valley,” said Bill Johnson, TVA president and CEO. “Customer expectations for reliable, low-cost and clean energy continue to rise. The new technologies and best practices we share here can help all of us build a better-skilled workforce as we serve the public.”

To complement the learning environment, attendees also will be able to visit dozens of vendors who exhibit at the ELECTRIC POWER Exhibition. The exhibition takes place from March 20-21, also at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center.

The 2018 conference theme is “What does the Rise of Natural Gas Mean to the Utility Industry?” The provocative theme drives home the fact that the industry faces opportunities and challenges as natural gas upends traditional fossil and nuclear generating resources. Conference sessions not only highlight gas-fired generating technologies, but also deliver deep dives into competitive strategies for existing coal-fired units, nuclear, and renewables, plus O&M best practices, workforce challenges, and more.
