Significant Contract for Steinmüller Engineering GmbH, Gummersbach

Gummersbach, 22. 12. 2016:   Lift-off for the rebuilding of the steam generator of Unit 3, Power Station Duvha, South Africa! Steinmüller Engineering has signed a master enabling agreement with Eskom, the state-owned South African energy utility, and has thus laid the foundation for an order intake of a high, double-digit million (EUR).

Duvha is a coal-fired power station with an installed capacity of 3,600 MWel located in the Mpumalanga province, South Africa. The power plant consists of six blocks of 600 MW each. In 2014 an explosion occurred in block 3, which resulted in a total demolition of the boiler.

Steinmüller Engineering has been awarded the re-engineering of the steam generator for unit 3. „The signing of the contract is a further milestone on the way to a highly qualified, powerful engineering supplier, “ say the managing directors, Dr. Hans-Ulrich Thierbach und Tetsuya Iwasaki. „With this mission, we are strengthening our commitment to the South African energy market and our performance as Know-how provider”. In addition, this also lays the foundation to the achievement of the company’s strategic goal of further moderate growth.

After almost two decades, a large boiler is again designed and constructed in Gummersbach. This secures a base workload at Steinmüller Engineering GmbH over several years. ”
