Schneider Electric Enables Predictive Maintenance at Israel Electric Corporation to Boost Reliability

  • Ensures “Life is On” across Israel with early warning notification of equipment problems to reduce unscheduled downtime
  • Monitoring and Diagnostics Services Center offers best practice advice and start up services for ease of rollout

LAKE FOREST, Calif., March 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, today announced the Israel Electric Corporation (IECo) selected Schneider Electric’s predictive asset analytics software, Avantis PRiSM, to improve reliability, availability and performance. Schneider Electric’s predictive maintenance software will be used to monitor 4100 MW of combined-cycle natural gas generation at eleven units across seven sites.

IECo is the largest power provider in Israel, generating and supplying electricity to 80 percent of the country. As part of their commitment to provide reliable power to their customers, IECo is executing a predictive maintenance strategy. Avantis PRiSM will be the center of IECo’s early warning system (EWS) and will be used to identify and diagnose equipment problems before they occur for proactive maintenance planning. This is the first Schneider Electric implementation on IECo’s generation level and a continuation of previous initiatives to optimize IECo’s power system.

“As a completely isolated national grid, supplying reliable power is critical for our customers,” said Uri Levy, Project Manager at IECo. “We selected Schneider Electric’s predictive asset analytics software for our EWS because of their proven technology, industry experience and customer-centric approach.”

“In power generation, a single turbine failure can cost millions of dollars,” said Rob McGreevy, Vice President of Information, Asset and Operations at Schneider Electric. “Predictive asset analytics enables utilities such as IECo to identify and diagnose issues before they occur for proactive maintenance planning, resulting in reduced costs and maximizing return on high dollar asset investments.”

In addition to model building, implementation support and training, Schneider Electric is providing remote asset health and performance monitoring through their Monitoring and Diagnostics Services Center (MDSC), offering a bridge of expert services to supplement the IECo team prior to implementation.

Avantis PRiSM uses advanced pattern recognition and machine learning to detect equipment problems days, weeks or months before traditional alarms. As part of Schneider Electric’s comprehensive Enterprise APM platform, PRiSM enables companies to reduce unscheduled downtime, increase asset utilization and maximize economic return on assets.
