POWER Engineers Awarded Detailed Engineering and Design Services Contract for CPV Towantic Energy Center in Oxford, Connecticut

HAILEY, Idaho (October 5, 2016) — POWER Engineers Incorporated (POWER) was awarded a contract from Gemma Power Systems to provide detailed engineering and design services for Competitive Power Venture’s (CPV) Towantic Energy Center project located on a secluded 26-acre site in Woodruff Hill Industrial Park in Oxford, Connecticut.

Ronald Polaske, Gemma’s Senior Vice President stated, “We carefully choose our engineering partner for more than just their technical proficiency. They must also share our vision and core values. POWER Engineers easily fulfills those requirements. They are a true member of our team, and we look forward to working with them in the future.”

The Towantic Energy Center is a natural gas-fueled, 2×1 combined cycle power plant consisting of two high-efficiency General Electric 7HA.01 combustion turbine generators, two heat recovery steam generators and one steam turbine generator. The facility also includes air-cooled condenser and dual-fuel operational capabilities that will eventually supply power to more than 750,000 Connecticut homes. The 805 MW CPV Towantic Energy Center is one of the largest private-sector infrastructure projects in Connecticut. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018.

“We are very pleased to be working with Gemma again on another state-of-the-art combined-cycle power plant,” stated Bill Richardot, Project Director of POWER Engineers. “Gemma is a trusted client who understands the engineering process and appreciates the value we bring to their projects.”
