Haryana gets its 1st ever 1 MWp Solar PV Plant

C&S Electric Ltd., one of the leading and most reputed suppliers of electrical and electronic equipment that finds application in power generation, distribution,  and control and also the largest exporter of industrial switchgear has added another feather to its cap of success. It has successfully synchronized the first ever 1 MW p Solar PV Power Plant in Bhiwani District of Haryana on June 28, 2011 and commenced export of power to the grid from the same date thereby becoming the 2nd PV Power Plant on all India basis with the grid under MNRE RPSSGP programme of JNNSM. The annual power generation expected from this power plant is around 1.5 Million to 1.6 Million KWh and around 1400 to 1500 tons of Green House Gas Emission saving will accrue in a year. Complete power plant is efficiently constructed in approx. 5 acres of area. The estimated cost incurred including land is Rs. 14.5 crore.

The Company has chosen Haryana because the state has a good irradiance, the state Nodal Agency HAREDA is very active and effective, the DISCOM is co-operative and the State Electricity Regulator is one of the most enlightened ones in the whole country.

Set up by the company which is a major supplier to the conventional power generation industry in India, it has been contributing to the strong growth of this sector. With the launch of national solar mission, C&S Electric aims to participate in the national drive to add clean and green energy as a part of our country’s growing power generation capacity. Mr. Rohit Dhar, Senior Vice President – Strategy and Business Development, C&S Electric was  pleased  at the  successful synchronization  ahead of the committed timeline and said, ‘This is our 1st step in  the domain of clean energy and we are fully geared up to  offer  world-class   Solar PV Power Plant  EPC  solutions  customized for Indian conditions  in the  range of 1 MWp to 20 MWp  based on crystalline & thin film technologies.’

How would it benefit Haryana?

Power generated from this solar grid would be fed into Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitan Nigam Ltd. (DHBVN) which is the local power distribution company of Haryana and also would be distributed in the Nandha village and the surrounding villages. Solar PV power distributed through the grid is available to the consumers at normal discom tariff. This would help in reducing the power cuts in the area to an extent and also help in bringing transformation in the lives of people by improving the quality and availability of power in their daily lives. The people in the villages would use it for different applications – domestic and agricultural both.
By incorporating innovative engineering C&S Electric Ltd has set a benchmark for quality, energy efficiency and timely execution in the domain of Solar PV – the carbon free, clean, green and quiet power.
