SIEMENS SMART GRID DIVISION OPENS NEW OFFICE IN HOUSTON
HOUSTON, January 18, 2012 – Siemens Infrastructure and Cities Sector has moved 70 employees dedicated to Smart Grid solutions to a LEED Certified building located at 4920 Westway Park Blvd., in Houston. The Siemens team is comprised of software engineers focused on the delivery of Smart Grid software as well network and field service engineers.
The location will showcase several Siemens products and services, such as electric vehicle charging stations and meter data management software used in conjunction with smart meters. Siemens also plans to hold PTI Power Academy training courses in this office focusing on many topics, including Smart Grid solutions and implementation. These courses provide time-tested, value-driven and industry recognized content that drives the energy industry.
“Siemens has, over many years, established a large footprint in the Houston area,” said vice president and general manager of Smart Grid Services, Kevin O’Hara. “For example, at Reliant Stadium, Siemens provided the technology to support the retracting roof and lighting controls, as well as temperature controls and fire and life safety solutions.“
In addition to this new office location, Siemens has 17 other Houston offices, focused on energy, industry and healthcare offerings. Siemens supplied the first light rail system to Houston, bringing the city together and helping to solve severe traffic problems. Siemens also provides all the electric, energy-efficient solutions to bring Canadian oil to Texas Gulf Coast refining complexes.
