Beumer Group Awarded Ash Pipe Conveyor Project by Vectren

SOMERSET, NJ (August 15, 2019) – BEUMER Group, an industry leader in the design and manufacture of conveying and loading systems, announced today that it has been selected to provide design/build services for a new recycled ash pipe conveyor system at the A.B. Brown Generating Station located near Mount Vernon, Indiana, owned by Vectren, a CenterPoint Energy Company (Vectren). The project is expected to begin immediately and continue through 2020.

The one-mile-long pipe conveyor will transport material from the power station’s ash pond to its barge loading facility on the Ohio River. In addition to supplying the pipe conveyor, BEUMER’s scope of work includes the design and supply of a reclaim hopper and belt feeder to receive wet ash at the pond site, and a transfer conveyor to feed the new pipe conveyor.  BEUMER will also design, fabricate, and supply upgrade modifications to the existing barge loading facility at A.B. Brown Station to convert from a dry loading system to one that will load the wet excavated ponded material. BEUMER’s full scope of services will include design, engineering, fabrication, supply, instrumentation and controls, and technical support during the construction and start-up phases of the project.

BEUMER’S pipe conveyor technology forms the transport belt into a tube, or pipe, that can navigate horizontal and vertical curves as well as high inclinations. As a result, material can be transported over difficult topography or around existing structures without the use of transfer towers. In addition to serving power plant clients, BEUMER has installed its pipe conveyor technology at cement, chemical, steel and waste recycling facilities.
