APR Energy Commissions 300MW Power Plant in Pangaon, Keraniganj, Bangladesh

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — APR Energy, a global leader in fast-track power solutions, today announced that it has successfully completed the installation and 100-hour commissioning test of a 300MW power project for the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). The company will operate as an independent power producer (IPP) for a term of five years at its Pangaon, Keraniganj based facility.

This APR Energy project, one of the company’s largest, is one of several contracts that have been implemented by BPDB to deliver 1000MW of supplemental power to Bangladesh over the next five years while Bangladesh completes a number large scale coal and nuclear facilities currently under construction.

“Unprecedented population growth and economic expansion make Bangladesh one of the largest electrical markets in the world,” said John Campion, Chairman, APR Energy. “While the country continues development and implementation of numerous long-term solutions, BPDB recognized a need for a fast track power solution that would help them meet their peak electricity demands over the next five years.”

The APR Energy plant represents a significant investment in the Bangladeshi power infrastructure by an American company. The plant will be one of the largest of its kind in the world. Nearly 500 local citizens were employed during construction, and the facility will support and employ more than 100 Bangladeshis in sustainable jobs. The plant is owned and operated by APR Energy Bangladesh Limited, which also will manage all fuel logistics and handling.
