U.S. Water’s PhosZero™ Chemistry Named Finalist in R&D 100 Awards

St. Michael, MN (September 23, 2016) – U.S. Water, the leading national provider of integrated solutions for water treatment, has been selected as a finalist by the R&D 100 Award Program for PhosZero, its unique antiscalant and corrosion inhibitor, cooling water chemistry.

PhosZero’s patent pending, sustainable technology provides both scale and corrosion protection while exhibiting reduced aquatic toxicity. This is important because phosphorus is used in virtually all antiscalants on the market, but phosphorus discharge has become heavily regulated due to adverse environmental impacts and is severely restricted by many state regulatory agencies. The PhosZero chemistry is a cutting-edge scientific discovery, fulfilling the industry’s need for a highly effective antiscalant without the use of any phosphorus compounds.

LaMarr Barnes, U.S. Water’s Senior Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategy, said, “U.S. Water is honored that PhosZero has been selected as a finalist in the R&D 100 Awards Program. PhosZero’s innovative chemistry successfully meets our customers’ need for phosphorus-free cooling water treatment, and our users are achieving excellent performance results while meeting regulatory requirements.”

Winners will be announced in early November during the annual R&D 100 Conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland.
