PIC is Awarded O&M Contract with LCEC Generation, LLC

ATLANTA (September 20, 2011) – PIC Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has entered into an Operations and Maintenance Services agreement with LCEC Generation, LLC (LCEC) for the 43 megawatt power generation plant that LCEC is currently constructing in Lovington, New Mexico.

PIC will provide full care, custody and control O&M services during the three-year term of the contract, which will begin with full mobilization to the site in October 2011.

“The Lovington project is a great fit for PIC,” according to Joe Bono, PIC’s Director of O&M Business Development. “Our O&M team is very proficient working with Wartsila reciprocating engines, as we can leverage the experience and resources from our mobilization and operation of the Wartsila engines at Barrick Goldstrike Mine Inc.’s Western 102 plant in Reno, Nevada and Golden Spread Electrical Cooperative Inc.’s Antelope Station in Abernathy, Texas.”

LCEC’s Lovington plant, which broke ground in April 2011, will utilize five Wartsila 20V34SG reciprocating engines. These natural gas units will provide power to the LCEC members of southeastern New Mexico and west Texas. This new plant is a load-following plant that will support wind energy to the co-op members from a Purchase Power Agreement (PPA) that LCEC has executed with Kairos Energy. The steam plant adjacent to the Lovington Wartsila plant was decommissioned in 1983.

LCEC Generation, LLC is a subsidiary of Lea County Electric Cooperative. Founded in 1946, Lea County Electric Cooperative is a member-owned cooperative headquartered in Lovington, New Mexico. The Cooperative has additional offices in Tatum, New Mexico and Plains, Texas.
