Latest Generation of Cable Rejuvenation Fluids

The latest fluid, dimethyldibutoxysilane (DMDB), was fully developed at the UtilX Corporation laboratory in Kent, Wa. It has been brought to market after many years of laboratory and field research to address some very specific operational issues. It is manufactured and backed by Dow Corning Corporation, as are all UtilX cable rejuvenation fluids. This new fluid has a low vapor pressure at elevated temperatures and a high boiling point and high flash point. This makes it especially suited for larger, hotter-running cables and is engineered for feeder and transmission cable systems. Therefore, this new fluid has many of the beneficial properties of UtilX’s previous CableCURE® fluids along with these new advantages. This new DMDB fluid can be used anywhere one is currently using a CableCURE fluid.

To date, over 210,000 feet of cable has already been treated with this fluid with no failures reported. It has also been approved for use on Florida Power & Light’s feeder system.

Dual-Axis Optical Accelerometer

VibroSystM’s FOATM-200 measures acceleration in two axes. Like our renowned single-axis FOATM-100, our dual-axis fiber optic accelerometer is particularly well suited for end-winding vibration measurement in turbogenerators and large electric motors. Its design makes it immune to electromagnetic interferences and ensures an excellent electrical insulation between the sensor and the instrumentation. Its passive technology makes it ideal for vibration measurements in areas where conventional piezo-electric accelerometers may create hazards to machine and personnel. A distinct feature of our FOA accelerometers is that our sensor heads do not contain any metal. Aside from the convenience of acquiring measurements on two axes, the FOA-200 possesses the following key features:

•    Operation: up to class H
•    Bandwidth: 10 to 1,000 Hz
•    Hydrogen sealed feedthrough connector/conditioner
•    Dynamic range: 0 to 40g /2 mm pk-pk @ 100 Hz or1.4 mm pk-pk @ 120 Hz
•    Sensitivity: 100 mV/g
•    Integral optical cable length: 10 m/32’ 8” (other lengths available)
•    Contains no chemical or rare earth elements, no strain or pressure constraints. Does not use fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technique.
•    Calibration is traceable to National Institute of Standard and Technology

Flame-Free Press-to-Connect System

Victaulic stainless steel Pressfit® is a revolutionary flame-free press-to-connect system that installs in seconds and is available in ½” to 2”/15mm to 50mm IPS pipe sizes. A complete line of Pressfit products are available, including pipe, couplings, fittings, and valves. Victaulic Pressfit installs five times faster than other joining methods, increasing jobsite efficiency by more than 60%. In addition, by eliminating the need for welding, the Pressfit system reduces man hours with less than half of the necessary rework associated with welded systems.

All sizes of the Pressfit system are available in Schedule 5 Type 304 and Type 316 stainless steel and can be requested with Grade “E” EPDM, Grade “T” Nitrile or Grade “O” Fluoroelastomer o-rings for a variety of wet and dry industrial applications. Victaulic Pressfit provides a uniform mechanical engagement of the fitting or valve onto the pipe, per ASME B31.1, 31.3 and 31.9 requirements and ANSI class 150 systems up to a maximum of 300psi/2065kPa. All components of the Pressfit system are NSF compliant for potable water services. The lightweight pressing tool eliminates the flames and fumes caused by welding and is available from Victaulic with electric and battery powered options.

Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps for Power Plants

Vooner offers conical port liquid ring vacuum pumps for removing non-condensable gases from condensers. The VTS Series of two-stage liquid vacuum pumps are commonly used for removing gases under normal condenser operating conditions to 1.0”HgA or lower while providing greater low vacuum capacity to assist with hogging or handle upset conditions. The VG and V4 Series’ of single stage liquid ring vacuum pumps with capacities to 13,000 ACFM are commonly used in condenser hogging applications and available in stainless steel construction for geothermal condenser service.

Vooner also offers long-lasting 316 stainless steel pumps for fly ash bag filter recovery systems, gypsum dewatering, and vacuum deaerators. All Vooner pumps are bolt-in replacements for CL, 904, and AT Series pumps. Every pump is performance tested to HEI standards in Charlotte, N.C. Our rigorous quality control inspections and performance tests guarantee that each Vooner pump matches the capacity and power consumption shown on our performance curves.
