reading the Bloomberg website today :

"Toyota earns between 100,000 yen ($1,042) to 200,000 yen in operating profit on the sale of one Prius or about 7 to 12 percent of the profit it makes on the sale of a Lexus LS sedan or Tundra pickup trucks in the U.S., according to an estimate by Credit Suisse Securities (Japan) Ltd."

and : "Prius became the most popular vehicle in Japan in May topping the Insight, which had been the first hybrid vehicle to top Japan’s monthly regular auto sales."

Amazing how successful these green conspiracies have become.

Irv,
Are you the executive quoted in the NYT article? I presume so from your email address. Surely, Bob Lutz has access to your balance sheets, as you are a publicly traded company with the necessity to file reports to the SEC. I have no way of knowing if you or Lutz are telling the truth, although Lutz is on record making his claim. Now you are an record disputing his claim. Any evidence beyond assertion? Any reference to SEC and 10K reports?
Thanks,
Ken Maize
P.S., I hope your claims are correct, as I am a loyal Toyota consumer for over 20 years. But I'm also a journalist and paid to be a skeptic.
